Thank you for visiting DC-3 Airways and welcome to the DC-3 Airways World
Rally 2008, which will begin on the 18th October 2008. After an absence of
two years we have returned with a selection of ten interesting and
challenging flights from around the world created by Senior VP. Tim Cook.
The rally will be spread over thirty days giving each pilot a three day
‘slot’ in which to fly each flight. More details on when each flight may be
flown are given in the World Rally Rules.
While the flights themselves aren’t too difficult, a reasonable degree of
competence in flying and handling the DC-3 will be necessary, along with a
good understanding of navigation by NDB and VOR beacons. If you wish to
refresh your knowledge of navigation and flying and handling the DC-3 follow
the links below….

Each flight has been given an individual ‘Start-up’ situation where the departure airport and the weather has been correctly set. This will create an equal situation for everyone. The weather will at times be extreme and the ability to apply the correct Wind Correction Angle will be very important. This can be achieved by correctly using an E6-B calculator. Every good pilot will have at least a mechanical version of an E6-B in his flight bag to enable him to make a multitude of flight calculations. You won’t have to buy one though; you can download an electronic version by following the link below. If you are unfamiliar with how to use an E6-B please spare a little time to learn how to use it correctly.

No FSNavigator or similar flight plans are provided for the flights. Instead you will be provided with a ‘Flight Description’ to refer to which should be sufficient to guide you safely through each flight. You may of course use the flight description as a guide to create your own flight plan if desired. The flight descriptions are written in both MS Word and PDF. If you have difficulty reading either of these formats following the links below will provide you with the necessary “Readers”….
